After School Clubs: Letters Home Tonight!

You will be pleased to know that the letters regarding after school club places have been given out tonight. We hope that you are pleased with the place(s) you have been given, if you have received a club that your child no longer wishes to attend then please let us know so that the place can be allocated to someone on the waiting list. If your child is taking part in any of our sporting clubs please ensure they are provide with the correct PE kits. CHILDREN WILL BE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE WEARING SCHOOL UNIFORM.

Polite reminders:

If your child fails to attend their club for 2 consecutive weeks then unfortunately they will be taken off of the register. This does not include absences for illness and school trips.

Clubs finish at 4.15pm, if your child is collected late for 2 consecutive weeks, again their name will be taken off of the register.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter, as we have many after school clubs and a large number of children to accommodate.

KS2 Gymnastics!

The KS2 gymnasts have been busy practicing their handstands this week. They spent some time working on the basic shapes and how to stretch all the muscles in their bodies before trying to turn this upside down and balance on their hands. It is harder than it looks!

The girls showed great resilience as they practiced, improving on each attempt. "You really have to keep your arms straight" said Martina as she tried to perfect her handstand. Sophia showed great control of her body as she worked on her handstand. "I had trouble coming down from my handstand but I can do it now!"

Reach for the Stars!

The KS1 gymnasts have been busy this week trying to reach for the stars! We were fortunate enough to be able to borrow Mead's crash mat and spring board this week, so it has been a very exciting session getting use to the new equipment.

"This is harder than it looks" said Harry as everyone tried to master the basics of the hurdle step take off. The gymnasts first practiced their hurdle step on the floor using hoops before they tried it out on the spring board. The gymnasts not only had to focus on their take off, but the shapes they were making in the air along with that all important landing. "I like doing the star jump best" said Roxy as she experimented with different jumps.

Thanks for letting us borrow your springboard Mead!

Broadford B Team Dazzle!

Last night, our football team had a very convincing win against Drapers Brookside. Even with the cold wind drifting across the pitch, they didn't let this effect their performance. The boys took the lead very early on and kept possession very well. With some fantastic goals from Levan Towe-Enu, Oliver Hatwell and Ellis Curtis-Rich the boys won 5-0. A fantastic result!

After School Clubs - Multisports

The children of Multisports have been very busy this term playing a variety of sports and games.

The children have learnt the correct techniques to throw and catch a ball, learnt how to dribble a football, played parachute games and become masters of dance!
Each week a different sport is played and they children enjoy working together to enhance the skills they learn.

'When you catch a ball you have to have soft hands and you pull the ball into your chest', Michael Sloane.

'I liked playing with the parachute,' Ruby Welch.

As we look to the rest of the half term, the children of Multisports are excited to play more new sports and games, such as javelin throwing!

Multisports club is a great way for your children to gain an extra hour of exercise each week. There are great benefits to active children:

  • stronger muscles and bones
  • less likely to become overweight
  • decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • lower blood pressure
  • have a better outlook on life

After School Clubs - KS2 Gymnastics

The KS2 gymnasts have been busy this term working on a wide variety of skills including rolling, balancing, jumping and beam work. They have shown some great skills and a determination to improve and learn.

This week we have been busy working on pair and groups balances. After being introduced to a few simple pair balances, the gymnasts chose which balances to try out before creating their own. The gymnasts had to show great reciprocity as they communicated and work together. Safety was vital and the gymnasts listened to directions well, ensured their partners were safe and they worked within their abilities.

"We need to remember to hold each others wrists" said Charlie as he helped Samuel into their pair balances.

Take a look at just a few of the balances we created today.......

After Schools Club: What a job we've got!

Gardening Club, over the last three weeks, have been tackling the huge weed-takeover in the year group beds! What a battle it has been!

But the hard work will all be worthwhile when we start replanting. Well done, team!
