After School Clubs - KS2 Gymnastics

The KS2 gymnasts have been busy this term working on a wide variety of skills including rolling, balancing, jumping and beam work. They have shown some great skills and a determination to improve and learn.

This week we have been busy working on pair and groups balances. After being introduced to a few simple pair balances, the gymnasts chose which balances to try out before creating their own. The gymnasts had to show great reciprocity as they communicated and work together. Safety was vital and the gymnasts listened to directions well, ensured their partners were safe and they worked within their abilities.

"We need to remember to hold each others wrists" said Charlie as he helped Samuel into their pair balances.

After School Clubs- Film Club

This week in Film Club, we finished watching 'Madagascar' which was had been greatly enjoyed by us all. To bring the film to life, we then created our own television adverts using drama in groups. The pupils really got into character and persuaded each other to watch the film using techniques such as mesmerising voices, action scenes that didn't give too much away and direct appeals to the audience. 

Creating an advert was fun because I enjoyed the film and want to persuade other people to watch it too!

After school clubs - Autumn term

Just a reminder that after school club letters have now been sent home for the new Autumn term and must be returned no later than Tuesday 13th September 2016. 

After School Clubs - Wednesday Lego club

The children were feeling very proud of themselves this week in Lego club as some finished their pieces that they have been working on. Courtney showed resilience by listening to instructions from her partner to make a tree. Matthew also made a tree. Joshua and Kabey worked together to make an air-ship which is for characters from the Hobit to travel in! Timothy made a minion from the movie whilst Brandon made a flying bus that can travel through the air! 

After School Clubs - Hama Beads Y3/4/5/6

It was all hush hush in Hama Beads club this week with Father's Day coming up. The children were given a choice as to whether they wanted to make a Hama bead creation which would become a magnet or a key ring. There were some lovely designs. Simran happily stated "I'm making a keyring for my dad so he doesn't lose his keys."

After School Clubs - Arts & Crafts Y1/2

In Arts and Crafts this week the children were preparing for Father's Day the coming Sunday. The children were decorating certificates for the special dads, uncles and grandads in their lives and also making book marks which were in the shape of a hammer. When I asked why the bookmark was a hammer shape Harry Hann answered "Because they do building." We had to wait until today to blog otherwise it would have spoiled he surprise!

Performing Arts Yr 3/4/5/6

This afternoon in performing arts after playing a few familiar warm up games, it was time to put their improvisation skills into action. Firstly in pairs they had to perform to the audience, then when Miss Davis called out grab a slip, they had to pick up a piece of paper from the floor which had a phrase written on it. The rules dictate that the phrase must be included in their performance.  Following this it was a unanimous decision to play bus stop game. This is where the audience has to guess what is being performed by the characters at the bus stop.
