After School Clubs - Hama Beads Y3/4/5/6

It was all hush hush in Hama Beads club this week with Father's Day coming up. The children were given a choice as to whether they wanted to make a Hama bead creation which would become a magnet or a key ring. There were some lovely designs. Simran happily stated "I'm making a keyring for my dad so he doesn't lose his keys."

After School Clubs - Arts & Crafts Y1/2

In Arts and Crafts this week the children were preparing for Father's Day the coming Sunday. The children were decorating certificates for the special dads, uncles and grandads in their lives and also making book marks which were in the shape of a hammer. When I asked why the bookmark was a hammer shape Harry Hann answered "Because they do building." We had to wait until today to blog otherwise it would have spoiled he surprise!

Performing Arts Yr 3/4/5/6

This afternoon in performing arts after playing a few familiar warm up games, it was time to put their improvisation skills into action. Firstly in pairs they had to perform to the audience, then when Miss Davis called out grab a slip, they had to pick up a piece of paper from the floor which had a phrase written on it. The rules dictate that the phrase must be included in their performance.  Following this it was a unanimous decision to play bus stop game. This is where the audience has to guess what is being performed by the characters at the bus stop.

After School Club - Multi-Sports REC/1/2

Fitness was the key word in Multi-sports this week and the children were all go, go, go! After warming up they were put into teams and ran some relay races, some children even had to have a breather, they were so puffed out! Then Mr Portway demonstrated how to use the fitness equipment and the children exercised on one machine at a time, moving round in a circuit, experiencing all of the different machines. Charlie Marshall asked Mr Portway "What part of your body does this machine do, your legs?" To which he replied "It's actually your hips Charlie!"

Gymnastics club Yr Rec/1/2

This afternoon the gymnasts have been busy practising how to move around a variety of apparatus demonstrating  poise, strength and control. Miss Poulter set out a circuit which included hoops, benches, soft mats and tables of varying sizes and heights. The children showed great resilience as they sprinted to the highest table, then  placing their hands on the table they had to bring their legs up and land onto two feet. It was important that their jump to dismount was well controlled.

After School Clubs - Comic Book Club Y3/4/5/6

This week in Comic Book Club, the children were creating advertisement posters for a super hero. They could either use the iPad to search and draw their choice of super hero or they could use their own imagination and create their own. They needed to think about the features of an advertisement poster and how to make it eye catching!

Creative colouring Yr 2/3/4

The levels of creativity were clearly evident this afternoon as Weronika and Martina explained. The children firstly chose part of an intricate pattern to colour taken from a colouring for grown-ups book. Following this they divided their paper into sections and designed their own pattern which they  carefully coloured, making sure to stay within the lines. Miss Estall set the challenge of using  only two colours which Ellie-Mae reflected was the most challenging as "using two colours was difficult because it meant spreading the colours out and making the different shades with them."
