The KS2 gymnasts have been busy practicing their handstands this week. They spent some time working on the basic shapes and how to stretch all the muscles in their bodies before trying to turn this upside down and balance on their hands. It is harder than it looks!
The girls showed great resilience as they practiced, improving on each attempt. "You really have to keep your arms straight" said Martina as she tried to perfect her handstand. Sophia showed great control of her body as she worked on her handstand. "I had trouble coming down from my handstand but I can do it now!"

ART and Design Club
In Art Club, we have been designing colourful, snowy mittens catching one delicate snowflake. Some of our younger art clubbers became fascinated with the different snowflake shapes they could make with a simple piece of circular paper and a pair of scissors! A great way to teach pattern and symmetry as well! We are now exploring Optical Illusion art.... Using just colour, shape and line, the children have already produced some super eye-catching pieces: Can you see a 3D hand beneath the stripes and a globe popping out of these designs?
