Art & Design Y3/4/5/6

In Art & Design the children have been working on a project related to the artist 'Edvard Munch'and his famous painting, 'The Scream'. First they drew a charcoal sketch of the painting and then, in their next piece, they concentrated on what hair would look like if a person was screaming. They used watery paint and blew through a straw to get the effect they wanted. This week the children are using oil pastels and blending colours to create a 'shrunken face' of themselves

After school club:- Cookery Yr 5/6

"BANGERS!"  were the name given to sausages during the Second World War as they contained so much water, when fried they exploded. Cookery club prepared their sausage filling using pork, rusk, seasoning  and water to keep them moist. It was then time to take turns mastering the art of using the sausage making machine to first fill the sausage skin with the mixture. After tying both ends they then moved along the table where they had to twist the lengths into individual sausages.

Gardening Club

In gardening club this week the children were planting Spring bulbs. They were planting a variety of Spring flowers including daffodils, hyacinthus, tulips and crocus bulbs. The children clearly know their stuff as they informed me that the bulbs must be planted trowel deep with the roots pointing downwards and that planting needs to be done in October or November in order for the flowers to grow around March.
