Roman Day at Broadford

The Romans came to Broadford Primary School recently to show year 3 and 4 about Roman times. They put on an energetic play about how their lives were very different from ours.

We enjoyed dressing up in Togas that we made using a bed sheet (not with elastic). We also wore flip flops or sandals and a belt or a skipping rope. If a belt or a skipping rope didn’t work then we used a safety pin.

We learnt that when the Romans were dirty they cleaned themselves by putting oil on their skin and then they scraped the oil off with a strigil (a curved knife).

James said: "The funniest thing of wearing a toga is that it looks really weird and embarrassing".
